"When we sat through Copilot training at work, the Microsoft guy actually told us that we will get better results if we use the word 'please' in our prompt. He was serious, not joking."

Sounds like INTERCAL [see Google], a programing language from the last century. It contained the keyword PLEASE which was undocumented but if it had been documented it would be: "if 'PLEASE' does not appear often enough, the program is considered insufficiently polite, and the error message says this; if it appears too often, the program could be rejected as excessively polite and obsequious."

I am not even impressed with artificial 'intelligence' so far. The other day, Microsoft Copilot
made an addition mistake in an equation I had asked for, and when I pointed out the error it simply
said, "Oh, you're right! I won't make that mistake again." But then, another time it gave
me the correct answer but to test its confidence I again challenged its accuracy. And again it
said, "Oh, you're right! I won't make that mistake again." So you can neither trust it
when it's wrong nor trust it when it's correct.

When we sat through Copilot training at work, the Microsoft guy actually told
us that we will get better results if we use the word 'please' in our prompt.
He was serious, not joking.

What I've seen so far definitely doesn't impress me, and I'll be darned if I'm
going to go out of my way to say 'please' to a machine.
