I'll second Howard's recommendation for the Eneloop batteries.  They seem to 
hold their charge much longer than others.

You will probably get numerous opinions but I will only use Panasonic Eneloop 
batteries in my KX3. Long lasting (charge/discharge cycles) and they have never 
leaked.
