I have used my KX3-KXPA100 combo off and on in many parks over the years. I
usually run CW and SBB about 40-50 watts and FT8 about 10 watts. I run the two
units, a small 12v fan to cool the amp in the Texas heat and 12v-5v converter
for my phone from a homebrew Powerpole distribution box powered by a single
Bienno 1220 20AH battery. With this configuration I get about 6 hours of
service. I have a 60-watt converter in the box to power my MacBook Air via
USB-C, and if used, lowers the time to less than 5 hours. Another factor is the
amount of time running FT8. It’s duty cycle is very power consuming.
