There was less noise than last week and some form of QSB on each of
you. A fast flutter with a slower rate added on. Less noise is always
helpful. The sun has obviously moved since the solstice. Forty meters
changed over the course of the second net. One moment people were
calling the next they were gone. By March life will get easier, more
sun will help.
Weather reports east of the Rockies told me winter is still in
control. W8OV mentioned rain, sleet, snow, and ice - however he still
has an antenna. K4TO just got his antenna back up, I'm glad it survived
the week's storms. Weather here has been nice. Sunny with temperatures
over 40 degrees. If they humidity drops I'll get out the chainsaw to
clear some of the downed limbs. Then I can lay down a radial field.

In a flash Buck knew it. The time had come. It was to the death. As
they circled about, snarling, ears laid back, keenly watchful for the
advantage, the scene came to Buck with a sense of familiarity. He
seemed to remember it all — the white woods, and earth, and moonlight,
and the thrill of battle. Over the whiteness and silence brooded a
ghostly calm. There was not the faintest whisper of air — nothing
moved, not a leaf quivered, the visible breaths of the dogs rising
slowly and lingering in the frosty air.
