Good Evening,

Each day the rain melts the snow.  Each night the snow returns.  This has continued for about two weeks.  Last night the cycling ate my doublet.  It must have broken early because when I saw it this morning the hanging wire was coated with an inch of snow.  The snow loads the fir tree's branches, which causes them to droop, sometimes from horizontal to a few degrees from the axis of the tree.  14 gauge THHN is pretty sturdy, it can last for a few winters.  Now it will become radial stock.  This antenna must be around five years old, some kind of record :)

Signals were good to great on both bands.  Twenty meters was very quiet.  Then I received my first response and turned down the gain.  Some slow QSB on folks east of the Mississippi.  The QSB on Roy's signal from Iowa was strange.  It sounded like chirp but that affects each element of each character.  This "chirped" parts of words.  The QSB was not chopping up the characters, it was slower than that rate.  But it modulated the tone of characters over the span of a word.  Very odd.  The sun is definitely giving our ionosphere a deep massage.

I would like the present propagation conditions to continue :)
