I agree with your note. Having said that there might be a possibility of yet another menu setting that would allow different PTT/Inh interaction. Only designers know what can be easily implemented and what cannot. Separate lockout box is not a problem for home station. Any extra box when you need to take rig far away is extra troubles.

I think it would be easily resolved if K3 firmware is changed so that
Inh
signal disables PTT in at the same time.

Many K3s are used with external sequencers which depend on the PTT/Inh
logic remaining exactly as it is now.

A far better place for specialized lockout logic is in a box between the
two K3s.
