I would not go so far as to say that. Any stable signal generator needs some warmup time. For instance my HP8640B is very stable - but only after about a 2 hour warmup period. Everything inside has to come up to operating temperature, and it drifts until that occurs. I would suggest at least a 15 minute warmup for the XG50, a half hour would be better. At least I would be more comfortable with an assumption like that even if it is overkill.

I believe the 8 hour 'burn in' is a time to allow the XG50 crystal some 'run time'. New crystals will typically exhibit some initial change in frequency that does not re-occur - think of it similar to the 'break-in' period for a new engine - you don't have to repeat that every time you start the car, but you do have to let it warm up before it will deliver peak performance.
