Dear Nicholas,
Thank you for your concern about the font licensing. We are concern about
the issue and that is why we are no longer using GPL for fonts. Have a look
at this:

So, if we update any font, that will be released under OFL. Is that enough?

Hi there.
No mention of this is given on the website (needs amending!) but when I
install the ekushey keyboard and font, it presents the LGPL. I was wondering
if the authors of the fonts Rupali and Solaiman Lipi would be willing to
re-license those fonts under the MIT license (aka 3-clause BSD license) or
as public domain? The website does not give author names.

The reason I ask is that I've been working on AAT fonts for Kannada and
Telugu, and approached Apple about including them in Leopard, but the man I
spoke with said they would not accept GPL or LGPL (which these fonts were).
I would like to see the Bangla script in there too, but you would need to
offer Apple MIT-licensed versions of the fonts at a minimum. Can this be
done?
It would allow Bengali support in the OS by default, which I'm sure is
something you'd like to see too.
