Minor correction to Klaus' statements:

commercial translator support the majority, if not all, of the X12
standards, for the 005xxx and 006xxx sets, applying such a maintenance
fee for this year, besides the $800 for the current set, it would also
require 9 x $160, a total of $1754. With each new release that figure
will increase by another $160. Boy, what a "cash cow" that is."
As far as I know most commercial translator vendors don't buy the
equivalent of the standards on CD. They buy the "table data", which is
priced at $15,000 for members and $7,500 for non-members. The 20% annual
fee for those products comes to $3,000 and $1,500 respectively.
