Leah I agree completely that the combination of linefeed blocking with linefeed segment termination is something which needs to be resolved with the TP concerned. Our converters filter out linefeeds unless they detect that they are being used as segment terminators, in which case the filtering is turned off. In the case of a corrupted interchange (I class blocking as a form of data corruption) this will almost certainly cause the conversion to fail with an 'unknown segment' error very quickly. If one just had to deal with regular blocking using linefeed then one could try to be a bit more clever. Unfortunately I have encountered interchanges sent by email which have insidious insertions of linefeed which follow no obvious logic. The safe thing to do, if linefeed is being used as a segment terminator, is to abandon such interchanges. It is something which occurs very rarely in practice.
