Villanova University is offering its field course (Bio 3955) in Summer 2018. We invite qualified students
attending other institutions to enroll (subject to space limits).
This hybrid (online + in-person) course will focus on field ecology using southwestern Nova Scotia as its
regional focus. The centerpiece will be a 2-week field component involving intensive natural history
observation in terrestrial and coastal ecosystems; introduction to methods in ecology and field
ornithology; and completion of student research projects. The trip will take place in the interval 5-24
July (specific dates for the 2-week span to be determined in consultation with interested students).
Online work in June will prepare students for the field trip; online work in late July will focus on post-trip
discussion and completion of project reports.
