I have a background as both a Ph.D. scientist and a science writer, but my
latter experience was some time ago. The landscape has changed a great deal in
the last few years, and I'm having a much more difficult time finding markets
these days--especially those with a focus on wildlife and conservation in the
Eastern U.S., which is the region I know best.
If anyone has suggestions on publications which are open to writers with a
hands-on understanding of science, and/or with a dash of citizen action, I'd be
