Dear Ecolog-Listers: I am posting this (and another question in a few days) for a colleague with minimal internet connectivity. How can anyone one know what species inhabited a place before the first survey?
Background: As a limitation of any study, say we are studying "Area A" and we do not know what the species assemblage was prior to the very first survey. Thus, if "species 1" was not found within the area but was found nearby at another "similar" site, is there a way to make an educated guess as to whether "species 1" was likely there in the past? If anyone wishes to reply constructively, please send me an email to: [email protected] Gratefully, Jorge Jorge A. Santiago-Blay, PhD blaypublishers.com 1.
