The conference theme is 'Urban landscape ecology: science, policy and
practice' and will be held at King's College London, London, UK, 1-3
September 2014. We will have three days of presentations, networking events

The conference has four symposia on:
- Mapping and Modelling Urban Landscapes
- Managing Urban Landscapes
- Urban Patches and Heterogeneity
- Urban Rivers and Water

These symposia will bring together academics, practioners and policy-makers
to consider how concepts from landscape ecology can inform the maintenance
and restoration of healthy and properly functioning natural environments
across urban and peri-urban landscapes as the foundation of sustained
economic growth, prospering communities and personal well-being.

Keynotes on days one and two will be:
- Prof. John Handley, University of Manchester, 'Ecology in the service of
the city'
- Prof. Ingo Kowarik, Technical University Berlin, 'Urban habitats for
biodiversity conservation'

Excursions on day three will be to:
- The Shard to view London from western Europe's tallest building
- The Thames Barrier to tour London's vital flood defence
- Queen Elizabeth II Olympic Park to explore the ecological legacy of the
2012 Olympic Games
