POSITION PROFILE:

We are seeking an energetic and talented GIS Analyst/Developer to join our team 
of highly motivated staff working for the State Uplands GIS Program.  This 
position provides senior-level consultation, analysis, design, and development 
of system applications, geo-databases, and map services for mission-critical 
State Trust forest management programs.  Responsibilities include:

*            Leading the development and conversion of GIS applications to 
supported platforms.
*            Designing and creating specialized Python-based scripts, 
methodologies and procedures to analyze, implement, and automate GIS processes 
involving raster, vector, and tabular datasets.
*            Managing GIS projects, gathering and refining system requirements 
from customers; performing data/process analysis and writing technical 
specifications.
*            Evaluating new procedures and technologies as they arise for 
integration into business workflow.
*            Providing customer support, consultation and data stewardship 
services.

This position provides services to decision makers involved in the management 
of over 2 million acres of State Trust forest lands and across many programs 
(e.g. silviculture, timber sale, sustainable harvest and forest land planning).

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

*            A bachelor's degree in Natural Resource Sciences with emphasis in 
GIS.
*            At least 4 years of GIS experience in consulting, analyzing, 
designing, programming and providing technical support to Natural Resources 
businesses and customers.
*            At least 3 years demonstrated experience writing custom 
ArcGIS-based Python scripts that make use of conditional expressions, listing, 
looping, data reformatting, algorithm design, file searching/reading/writing 
and cursor statements.
*            At least 1 year demonstrated experience programming ArcObjects 
with .NET for ArcGIS 10.x.
*            At least 3 years demonstrated experience in GIS environmental 
modeling analysis using vector and raster-based datasets.
*            At least 2 years demonstrated experience managing GIS projects, 
gathering user/business requirements and writing technical documentations 
(project initiation, requirements specifications, metadata, etc.).
*            At least 2 year demonstration experience in developing and 
managing map services and sharing them through ArcGIS online and SharePoint web 
parts.
*            At least 1 year demonstrated experience designing and creating 
GIS-related data reports and summaries using MS Access and MS Excel pivot 
tables.


DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

*            Master's degree in Natural Resource Sciences with emphasis in GIS.
*            GISP certification, ESRI Developer certification
*            Thorough understanding of forest management principles (e.g. 
silviculture, timber sale, sustainable harvest and forest land planning).

SPECIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

*            Must have a valid driver's license.
