Fire Ecology of the Northeast: Restoring Native & Cultural Ecosystems
a Workshop hosted February 20-24, 2014 by Yale School of Forestry & 
Environmental Studies & Tall Timbers Research Station & Land Conservancy

Purpose:
To address the need for prescribed fire in northeast North America for 
restoring natural and cultural landscapes, produce a document summarizing 
discussions, and publish a special issue in the Journal of Sustainable Forestry.

Topics to be addressed include:
* Cultural and historic use of fire
* Fire management in upland deciduous forests, savannas, and meadows
* Fire ecology of pine barrens, scrub oak, and pitch pine communities
* Appropriate fire regimes for novel and unique ecosystems
* Social implications of using fire in a changed world (urbanization, 
invasives, climate change, air policy, and related topics)

Deadlines:
* For abstracts: October 31, 2013
* For invited manuscripts: February 1, 2014
