Hello Ecologgers-- I'm writing a blog post on the job market for post-Ph.D ecologists.
Specifically, I'm interested in: -If you've served on search committees recently, *how many applications*are typically submitted for a tenure-track faculty position in ecology? What about applications for other types of jobs in academia, government, nonprofits or industry? -How many jobs do newly minted PhD's apply for before their first permanent job? If you've recently landed your first position, I'd be interested to know how many job applications it took. I would also appreciate any other stats or articles people may be aware of that are insightful about the state of the ecologist's job market. I am just looking for a general range of numbers and won't use anyone's name/affiliation publicly, certainly not without permission. Please respond off-list. Thanks!
