Hello, I am performing bottle incubation studies to examine the grazing of copepods on algae and protists (microplankton). For each treatment I have several replicate bottles, but I have been noticing that the concentration of microplankton varies between "replicates" before I even perform the incubation.
I have been exploring different methods for mixing the water before dividing it into the bottles, and methods for putting the water into the bottles. Literature for these types of studies gives little to no information on the methods used to ensure good replication. If anyone on the list has experience with this sort of problem I would appreciate your ideas and advice. Thanks very much, Karen -- Karen Kayfetz Graduate Student Romberg Tiburon Center for Environmental Studies San Francisco State University 3150 Paradise Drive Tiburon, CA 94920
