Dear Ecolog,

We are trying to get a better sense of what a competitive graduate support
package for an entering PhD student in Ecology or Biology looks like these
days. I guess we are interested in the "standard package", versus specific
departmental or university fellowships that only 1 student might be awarded.

We would welcome your answers to the following questions with respect to
your program.

1. Name of school & department
2. Tuition is typically covered by? (e.g., student, GTA, advisor's grant, etc)
3. Stipend is how much per academic year?
4. How many years of support is typical providing students progress well?
5. Student research support comes from? (e.g., student grant writing,
adviser, mixed with most on adviser's grants, few on own, etc)
6. Do students have to pay University fees?
7. Are students provided health coverage?
8. Are students typically teaching (e.g., GTA)? How many hours per week
9. Approximately what fraction of students are on RAs associated with their
advisor's research? (give me you best guess).

Thank you very much for your time.

Regards,

James Vonesh
