Dear all,
thanks for the answers.
Most of the posts are related to R packages (http://www.r-project.org, free and open source):

http://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/pls/index.html

http://mevik.net/work/software/pls.html

R package `pls.pcr' (documentation at:
http://rss.acs.unt.edu/Rdoc/library/pls.pcr/html/00Index.html)

PLS function (documentation:
http://rss.acs.unt.edu/Rdoc/library/pls.pcr/html/mvr.html

There is also a listserve for questions (R-SIG-ECO).

A paper describing the package is available at: www.jstatsoft.org/v18/i02/paper

Some free software were also suggested by others ecologgers:

1) C2: you can try to use C2 program for PLS. It's for free if you use it for
< than 75 samples, but if you need to enter more than you have to buy
license. If you are interested in this program go to:
http://www.campus.ncl.ac.uk/staff/Stephen.Juggins/software/c2home.htm

2) You can try Parles ver 3.1.

thanks again,

Have you looked into R. This is a free-ware package which is similar to S
and S+. They also have sites where you can download codes and just modify
them for you data set. There also is a list for help using R in ecology and
environmental sci. (https://stat.ethz.ch/mailman/listinfo/r-sig-ecology).

Hope this helps!

Cheers,
William

Subject: [ECOLOG-L] PLS software suggestions

Dear Ecologgers,
for some data analyses I'm planning to undertake, I would like to use
Partial Least Square regressions (PLS).
I've tried both Statistica 7 and Simca-P+ as a demo version. The first one
doesn't have all the output I need (i.e. VIP and confidence
interval) while the second one do have them but it is a bit expensive for us
(ca. 1500$).
Do you know any software either free ware or software (but not
expensive) to run PLS analyses?

thanks in advance,
regards,
David Armanini
