Among my readings, I have found several excellent recent books that
provide the ecological/Earth context within which discussions of the
much more limited ethics-among-humans-only can be understood.
'Ecological Ethics', by Patrick Curry. Polity (www.polity.co.uk), 173
pp. This is a "penguin" sized book. It's reviewed on <amazon.com.>
It's the best, most succinct overview (sometimes humorous
too)...suitable for college students who are are in need of an intro to
the ecological foundation of ethics. It would be helpful as background
reading for any prof teaching ethics.
'Home Place; Essays in Ecology' by Stan Rowe. Revised edition 2002. 245
pp. Published by NeWest Publishers, Edmonton.(about 30 timeless articles
written by the author between 1985 and 1992).
'Earth Alive; Essays in Ecology' also by Stan Rowe (includes some 40
essays, short stories, reviews. written between 1993 and 2004,) the year
the author died. There are reviews of both the above books under
<amazon.com> or <amazon .ca.>.
All of the above....perfect for readings, discussion, seminars, etcetera.
