Dear all,
We are pleased to announce that a few seats remain for the upcoming Physalia
online course: Comparative Genomics.

Dates: (online) 7-11 AprilCourse website: [
https://www.physalia-courses.org/courses-workshops/course34/ ](
https://www.physalia-courses.org/courses-workshops/course34/ )

This five-day course provides a comprehensive introduction to comparative
genomics, with a focus on structural variation. Participants will explore a
range of tools and workflows, covering:
Genome assembly and annotation for eukaryotic genomes
Identification of single nucleotide variants (SNVs) and structural variants
(SVs)
Functional analysis of genomic variations in an evolutionary context
The course combines lectures with hands-on practical exercises, ensuring
participants develop both theoretical understanding and practical skills.

By the end of this course, participants will:
Identify SNPs and SVs using de novo assembly and read mapping approaches
Evaluate sequencing technologies (Illumina, PacBio, Oxford Nanopore) for
variant detection
Compare multiple genomes and analyze structural variations
Annotate variations and interpret their functional impacts
