*The Land Institute is hiring a Lab Manager for the Soil Ecology program with an ideal start in April 2025. *
*Location: The Land Institute in Salina, KS* As the Lab Manager in Soil Ecology, you will oversee the daily activities in the soil ecology lab. This includes working with the lead scientist to develop and update project management plans and oversee all necessary tasks by the rest of the lab members. This position spans management of multiple different projects, hands-on participation in the research activities, and analysis of results. The ability to develop and sustain systems of organization for upwards of 14 concurrent projects including large multi-institutional grants is critical for success in this role. *Required Qualifications* - MS-preferred or BA/BS+4 yrs experience in soil ecology, agronomy, environmental science or a related field - Curiosity and passion for agroecological research and perennial agroecosystems - Exceptional organizational and planning skill - Experience managing teams of people and large, multi-site projects *Duties include:* - work with the lead scientist to develop and facilitate a work plan for lab members; - coordinate and execute soil sampling and plant harvesting, - direct and conduct field activities including field establishment, fertilizer application, mowing, weeding, prescribed burns, etc; - coordinate, conduct, and train others to conduct soil laboratory analyses; - organize samples and data, and - perform data analysis and writing The salary range for this position is $65,000 - 81,000 annually. *To apply:* Submit your curriculum vitae and a letter describing your experience and interest in the position.
