The Department of Geography at the University of Florida is searching for a
highly motivated Postdoctoral Associate to join our NASA-funded research
project investigating the relationships between land use change and fire
regimes. This innovative project, led by Dr. Di Yang, integrates historical
CORONA imagery, GEDI LiDAR data, and citizen science observations to advance
our understanding of environmental change dynamics.

The successful candidate will spearhead research initiatives developing deep
learning approaches for historical satellite imagery classification,
integrating diverse geospatial datasets, and creating predictive models for
future fire risk scenarios. This position offers an exceptional opportunity to
work at the forefront of environmental remote sensing while leveraging unique
datasets and advanced computational methods.

Key Qualifications:

  *
PhD in Remote Sensing, Geography, Environmental Science, Computer Science, or
related field
  *
Strong programming skills (Python/R) with demonstrated experience in deep
learning applications
  *
Expertise in processing and analyzing large-scale remote sensing datasets
  *
Experience with Google Earth Engine or similar cloud platforms (preferred)
  *
Background in LiDAR data processing, particularly GEDI (preferred)
  *
Knowledge of fire ecology and land use change processes (preferred)

The University of Florida, ranked 7th among public universities, provides
competitive salary and benefits, state-of-the-art research facilities, and a
collaborative academic environment. Gainesville offers an exceptional quality
