The University Notre Dame Environmental Research Center (UNDERC) is hiring 1-2 students for a summer internship to start ideally in late May and continue through August. The internship will be based near Land O’Lakes, WI (https://underc.nd.edu/).
The core 10-week opportunity will focus on forest ecology and tree biology research in northern Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The individuals will conduct a research project in collaboration with Dr. Luke Magee and Dr. Nate Swenson, including the development of a research proposal, implementation of the project, analyses of the data collected, and the writing up and presentation of the project at the end of the summer. Housing for the summer and transportation from Notre Dame to the field sites are paid for by UNDERC. Participants receive: - $5000 stipend - $500 research budget for supplies - Unique research opportunity - Additional travel assistance through UNDERC for students from historically excluded groups. There may be funding to extend research projects and work with UNDERC scientists on other research projects.
