*Position Overview*
We are seeking an experienced and highly technical *Wildfire
Scientist/Programmer* to join our wildfire risk team. This role requires
strong analytical skills in quantitative data analysis, extensive
experience in programming, geospatial analysis, and wildfire science. The
position will play a critical role in advancing FEP’s wildfire simulation
capabilities and delivering innovative solutions to clients.

We understand that not every candidate will have all the listed skills but
encourage applications from those who can bring unique strengths to the
role. Depending on your expertise, projects may include:

   - Developing scientifically rigorous model validation processes for
   wildfire simulations.
   - Using remote sensing technologies and machine learning to improve
   wildfire fuel mapping precision.
   - Creating automated workflows to streamline wildfire simulation tasks.
   - Maintaining a Python code repository to ensure long-term project
   scalability and reproducibility.
   - Analyzing complex datasets to identify trends for enhanced modeling
   outcomes.
   - Developing reports, presentations, and technical documentation for
   clients and stakeholders.



*Qualifications*

   - Proficiency in Python or R, with a focus on data analysis and model
   validation.
   - Experience with remote sensing software (e.g., ENVI, ERDAS).
   - Expertise in coding for geospatial applications, including GIS tools
   for data visualization and mapping.
   - Strong problem-solving abilities and a proven track record of working
   independently and collaboratively.
   - Excellent communication skills to present complex data effectively to
   diverse audiences.



*Education and Experience*

   - Master’s degree in GIS, Computer Science, Statistics, Forestry, or a
   related field.
   - 5–10 years of experience in programming, GIS, data analysis, and/or
   wildfire science.



*Compensation and Benefits*
*Compensation Range:* $90,000 to $130,000 annually for a full-time, exempt
position. Compensation is based on education, training, experience, and
work location.
