The Department of Biology in the College of Science and Mathematics has an
opening for a Visiting Instructor of Biology for the Spring 2025 semester.

Within this setting, the Department of Biology offers a comprehensive
biology program leading to B.S., B.A., and M.S. degrees. The department
also provides several core curriculum and foundation classes for other
majors. These positions will contribute to student-centered classroom and
broad-based laboratory instruction for our students.

Job Summary: Reporting to the department chair, the visiting instructor of
Biology will be responsible for teaching multiple courses per semester,
including biology courses for majors and non-majors and other duties as
specified by the Department Chair of Biology. This is a one-semester
appointment for the months of January-May 2025. All visiting positions are
non-tenure track appointments. The salary is competitive and commensurate
with qualifications and experience.

Required Qualifications:
• Earned M.S. in Biology, or a closely related field with at least 18
graduate semester hours in Biology, by December 31, 2025
• Evidence of ability to teach undergraduate biology courses and
laboratories; ability to work with diverse populations; and effective
written and spoken communication skills
• Willingness to engage with institutional student success initiatives
• Commitment to engaging with best practice initiatives in instruction and
pedagogy, mentoring, and curriculum design and development

Preferred Qualifications:
• A minimum of 1 year of college/university teaching

Proposed Salary
Commensurate with experience.
This is an exempt position paid on a monthly basis.
