Next Monday, November 4 at noon US ET, the Ecological Forecasting Initiative and the ESA Statistical Ecology Section are co-hosting Dr. Jonathan Babyn from the University of Newfoundland who will present on “A brief introduction to Close-Kin Mark-Recapture”
You can register to join the call at: https://bit.ly/3B9maLH Close-kin Mark-recapture (CKMR) is a method to estimate abundance, overall survival and other demographic parameters based on probabilities of capturing the close-kin of a sampled individual such as parent, offspring or half-sibling. This talk will provide a brief overview on what CKMR is and how it can be used to estimate various demographic parameters in a population. It will also guide participants through setting up a simple CKMR model using RTMB on a simulated set of data. This is the first session in the fourth round of the seminar series. Upcoming session topics include: STAN, Camera Trap Distance Sampling, Computer vision and biodiversity monitoring, and Distance sampling applications in ecology Previous sessions covered: wsyn, SpaDES, spatio-temporal modeling, aniMotum, HMSC, Dynamic Generalized Additive Models, Integrated Species Distribution Models, Bayesian Stable Isotope Mixing Models and the MixSIAR R Package, State Space Models and the Template Model Builder (TMB) R Package, Spatial Modeling in Ecology, Zero-inflated GLM and GLMM, Structural Equation Modeling and the piecewise R package, Analysis of Bioacoustics Data, Spatial Occupancy Models, Hidden Markov Models, NIMBLE, Multi-species Occupancy Modeling, Integrated Step-Selection Analysis, Movement Ecology, Generalized Joint Attribute Modeling (GJAM), Generalized Additive Models (GAMs), Species Archetype Models and Regions of Common Profile Models, and Mixed Models.
