Join us for a 30-minute virtual brownbag with the NCEP team on November 12th!
NCEP lunch & learn: Managing Marine Seascapes Dive into an exercise that incorporates community science, traditional cultural practices, data analysis, scientific writing, and more! Join us for a virtual brownbag lunch (or snack!) with the authors of an open-access teaching resource on managing marine seascapes through community-based conservation. The authors will showcase their exercises on the ecological, cultural, economic, and social significance of fisheries management strategies. Through these exercises, students gain insights into both the strengths and weaknesses of the diver operated video (DOV) method and learn how to use this method to assess the impact of tabu areas, or, Marine Protected Areas (MPA) on coral reef fish abundance and coral reef complexity. Students engage with the practice of science by applying these tools, visualizing their findings, and creating a written report modeled after a scientific journal article. Curious to learn more? Register now to learn how to access these resources and use them in your college classroom! * Date: Tuesday, November 12, 2024 * Time: 12:30 - 1:00 PM PT / 3:30 - 4:00 PM ET * Location: virtual https://bit.ly/LL-MMS Best, Network of Conservation Educators and Practitioners, American Museum of Natural History To unsubscribe from this list please go to https://community.esa.org/confirm/?u=RhPWqPxFwODKvbkiT32nkIqRrsiSgulp
