I'd like to take out the whole notion of creating a user "dspace" and
let the Tomcat installation drive this aspect. People trip over this
again and again, sometimes getting into quite a mess before seeking
help.

Really, the step-by-step instructions are incorrect. Step 1 is
"create the DSpace user" and shows you how to create a user named
"dspace". But the procedure assumes that Tomcat is already installed
(see step 8), so the user used to run Tomcat is already created.

Further, a lot of sites will probably just use their distro's package
manager to install Tomcat, and that will create a user for it without
regard to DSpace, probably naming it "tomcat".

I think we should be advising people to find out what account Tomcat
uses, and chown the DSpace files to that. Having the tail wag the
'cat is too confusing.
