If you open the list of items for an author:
https://atmire.com/labs17/browse?value=Hemker%2C+H.C.&type=author
And enter some letters in the "Or enter first few letters:" box; clicking the
go button will keep the scope limited to this author name.
This implies that the list of items for this author is still displayed, but
displaying the items whose title starts with the letter entered in the box
above.
This should rather display the author names starting with the letters entered
in the box.
