Tim Donohue resolved DS-478.
----------------------------
Resolution: Won't Fix
Assignee: Tim Donohue
Marking this feature as "won't fix" for now. This seems like a feature that is
out-of-scope for DSpace (see above comment for more info). However, feel free
to add more comments if you feel strongly -- we can always reopen this as
necessary.

> Very simple monitoring class that 'pings' the installation URL and emails a
> specified recipient if no valid response is received. Typically this might be
> scheduled to run as a scheduled task first thing in the morning. Why would
> you not get a valid response from the ping ?...
> If the machine has been restarted but not all applications have been started
> eg Tomcat
> Tomcat has run out of memory
> No more database connections are available
> etc.
> I have attached the class, the email template, a script, and an excerpt from
> dspace.cfg. I haven't created a patch as the release of 1.6 is immenent but
> if this contribution were deemed acceptable I would happily do so.
