Summer of Code Students and Mentors,

First let me say welcome. We never did get a decent welcome meeting
this year for the GSoC students so, first let me apologize for that.
Let us use this thread to discuss any questions that may arise in
participating in this years GSoC and to being an initiative to get
community participation and feedback on your projects.

Please use the following approach when interacting with the community
on the listservs and WIKI.

(1) Use the dspace developers list for your development related
conversations (design feedback, development feedback and questions for
commiters, etc) prefix your message subject headings with [gsoc] so
that others may search/filter if they so choose.

(2) Use the dspace tech list for getting community feedback, doing
surveys and seeking out general feedback from the user community
again, please prefix your message subject headings with [gsoc] so that
others may search/filter if they so choose.

(3) I would highly recommend the following. First and foremost, post
as much as you can concerning the details of your project here in the
WIKI: http://wiki.dspace.org/index.php/Google_Summer_of_Code

This is the best place to document your project.

(4) Likewise, we will be hosting seperate SVN branches for those
students who require a branch of the codebase to work against in our
new repository. (http://scm.dspace.org/svn/repo/sandbox) I am updating
the details on how to approach this in the wiki page above. Please
let me know what your needs will be in this area, we can setup
branches of specific DSpace versions or completely new project spaces
for you or other

Best Wishes,
Mark (DSpace GSoC Admin and Mentor)
