You could always also try yourself and see what happens. This isn't even dsync-specific question, dsync accesses mails exactly the same way as how the rest of Dovecot (imap, lda, etc). Anyway, there's no .INBOX/ by default in Maildir. You could use that by specifying :INBOX=path manually.
