This is what I was afraid of first. "Unknown error" means that some function returned -1, but didn't set an error message. See if this changes the message: http://hg.dovecot.org/dovecot-1.0/rev/7959ec38de98 If not, I'd have to create some debug patches to find out which function is doing this.
