Hi all, I thought I would ask here because I'm sure there are a few of you that can answer this :)
I have recently been setting up a cross compiler for an old NAS box, as part of the river control system for the model town. The NAS box uses particular outdated versions of glibc/eglibc (2.8) and binutils (2.19). The cross compiler is currently not building those versions of glibc and binutils, I instead have glibc 2.9, and binutils 2.19.1. How important is this likely to be? I am aware that statically linking binaries might overcome any glibc-related issues, but I am not sure about binutils. Any ideas?
