Probably not. The jaws are hardened steel and the best that could be hoped for is a bodge. > 2. What kind of soldering iron do you use at WMT/home. It is something like this one: https://uk.farnell.com/tenma/21-10115-uk/soldering-station-60w-220v-uk/dp/2064549? gclid=CjwKCAjw_MnmBRAoEiwAPRRWWzCkUQg_wfQ0ebuLLFfkIReoUABXGZOARhKkFcqaj P8fLoPbbZ1okRoCsdEQAvD_BwE&gross_price=true&mckv=Syx9nvsW_dc|pcrid| 78108376509| &CAWELAID=120173390000351519&CAGPSPN=pla&CAAGID=14406255429&CMP=KNC- GUK-GEN-SHOPPING-2064549&CATCI=aud-157604796549:pla-57456878290[1] The thing is that it can do lead-free soldering and it is ESD safe, so even I am less likely to damage the board or zap/overheat the component. The tip is fine enough to slip into the hole alongside the component lead, so soldering is relatively easy. May not fit the budget though. -- Terry Coles -------- [1] https://uk.farnell.com/tenma/21-10115-uk/soldering-station-60w-220v-uk/dp/2064549? gclid=CjwKCAjw_MnmBRAoEiwAPRRWWzCkUQg_wfQ0ebuLLFfkIReoUABXGZOARhKkFcqaj P8fLoPbbZ1okRoCsdEQAvD_BwE&gross_price=true&mckv=Syx9nvsW_dc|pcrid| 78108376509| &CAWELAID=120173390000351519&CAGPSPN=pla&CAAGID=14406255429&CMP=KNC- GUK-GEN-SHOPPING-2064549&CATCI=aud-157604796549:pla-57456878290 -- Next meeting: BEC, Bournemouth, Tuesday, 2019-06-04 20:00 Check to whom you are replying Meetings, mailing list, IRC, ... http://dorset.lug.org.uk/ New thread, don't hijack: mailto:dorset@mailman.lug.org.uk
