I wish to volunteer on documentation projects at Apache OpenOffice using my writing and editing skills. I was a TV/Radio Systems Specialist in the U.S. Army repairing electronics in Washington, D.C. before turning my attention to a writing and communications career. With over 13 years as a news reporter and writer for newspapers, magazines, and trade journals, I developed excellent writing, researching, and communicating skills. My writing career spans a full-spectrum including: *GOVERNMENT* *Having knowledge and experience in government and politics, my first job was working as an editorial intern for Empire State Report in 1999 which covered the ins and outs of New York state government. * *TECHNOLOGY* *I have been a writer for Tech Valley Times, a tabloid specializing in technology. I also worked as a copywriter and blogger for Fanggle, a cloud computing company based in Los Angeles. * *HEALTH* *My experience also includes reporting local news and writing about health care. For the past six years, I have been a freelance writer for the Journal of the Student National Medical Association. * *SPORTS* *Working with Capital Area Golf, I interviewed PGA golfers and wrote stories about golf and golf events to promote Junior Golf clinics for children.* I hope to work on a team project in order to develop my technical communication skills.
