This document is the product of the Domain Name System Operations Working Group. The IESG contact persons are Warren Kumari and Mahesh Jethanandani. The result is that the resolver gets both a current NS Resource Record Set (RRset) for the root zone and the necessary address information for reaching the root servers. This document, when published, obsoletes RFC 8109. See Section 1.1 for the list of changes from RFC 8109. Working Group Summary The document had multiple WGLC, as additional comments were received and the document updated to address these. Document Quality This document is an update of an existing BCP document. It updated several references, some wording, and added additional discussions. There were some editorial clarification around section 3.3, which included feedback based on findings from the ICANN root server advisory committee. Personnel Tim Wicinski is DS.
