I said "another indirection" because people like Ray said " No, DNS is not designed for routing purposes. You should do it in another place". I guess you have the same position as your 2009 ACM queue article was frequently quoted by these people. However, the fact is that DNS has been widely used as a direction system for a long time with lots of tricks though. Individual tricks build walls for interoperability. Our friend PVM thought that DNS could contain not only data but also programs in the future.
