An application that understands a non-DNS protocol already is compatible with 
that naming scheme.

An application that doesn't understand a non-DNS protocol will fail on the name 
just as it would fail on a DNS name that does not exist.

There is no reason for this document to suggest to non-DNS protocols what to 
do; the developers of those protocols are aware of the DNS and can make their 
own design choices based on the pros and cons they see, without us.
