Whatever the long gone original experiments that NULL was intended for
that are alluded to in STD 13, NULL has some present day operational
utility in that it's explicitly defined as carrying as much arbitrary
data as can fit, and NULL RRs can be used with RFC 3597 generic syntax
without squatting on a code point.

It has no presentation format and is not allowed in master zone files so
presumably it is also the easiest RR type to implement.
