Nothing human is forever. What if the private organisation issuing
DOIs collapse? What will happen of all the DOIs bought on the
marketing-created assumption that it was stable?

Or we should use only identifiers issued by organisations older than
three centuries, on the assumption that they have demonstrated
stability. A good example is ARKs (draft-kunze-ark) issued by the
French National Library (prefix 12148), which was established in 1537
AD meaning it is probably here to stay.
