Until recently there wasn't a process, and they seem to have tried to follow the process that now exists, in a pretty reasonable timeframe. You can definitely ask them for more documentation. If your ask is reasonable, and seems beneficial, there's a decent chance they'll do it. But if your ask is unreasonable, you'll get ignored, and rightly so.
