OK, if the iso can be tweaked to do that, I could try the jessie that I have: # mount -t iso9660 -o loop,ro \ ~erik/Downloads/devuan_jessie_1.0.0_i386_CD.iso /mnt/iso/ $ find /mnt/iso/ -name sources.list -print $ Nope, doesn't seem to be any sources.list file in the jessie iso. Checking that the search can find stuff: $ find /mnt/iso/ -name '*sources*' -print /mnt/backup_home/pool/DEBIAN/main/p/python-setuptools/python-pkg-resources_5.5.1-1_all.deb I'll download ascii, and hope that is has been corrected to be able to install from USB.
