Don't know if this will help, but when I use AJAX, I don't set the
mimetype in HttpResponse(), I just pass simplejson.dumps() to
HttpResponse():
return HttpResponse(simplejson.dumps(response))
This approach works with Firefox, IE6, & IE7.
