I can't speak for Webpy (having never used it) but I can tell you I'd have Django's babies if I could. I guess I do and they're websites...
... Anyway. I wanted to apologise for the frankly unneccessary and otherwise useless comments you've had so far. Framework evaluation is a tough thing and I completely agree that you should ask the people using something what they think of it before testing it yourself. I've only ever seen a few complaints against Django and they usually centralise on Django just doing too much for what their project needs. If you're only dealing with static content and need a nice templating system, I'd consider looking elsewhere, but even then, having Django sitting there might make upgrading things in the future easier. (It's a nice templating system too!) And I was going to say that the probable benefit of Django (over Webpy) was you get larger, better community with better documentation and faster support ... but that point is slightly tarnished by the current replies. I guess the bigger a community gets, the more dicks there are. If you can say what your project is going to do, perhaps we can drill down into a little better but Django scales pretty well. You might get a more informed outlook on how it works (and how cool it is) by playing with it. Go through the tutorial (only takes a couple of hours including setting it up) and see if you like it. Whatever happens, good luck.
