I have over 25 web apps/sites on Django, including a large intranet app, that has almost always about 150 users at any point of time, some 25,000 hits a day. All of them have been running on the trunk and are stable. Some of them are news sites for mags getting 10 k hits a day.
It is any day better than PHP.
