There isn't a visual interface for creating new fields, but don't let that stop you. It is really very straight forward and well documented. If you don't own the printed version of the django book, I'd recommend hitting their web site and reading or at least glancing through Chapter 5 (http://djangobook.com/en/1.0/chapter05/).
