also worth noting is that after 1.0 is released, a major goal is to  
develop a standardised way of dropping apps into django - and maybe  
even adding some of these apps into contrib. It has not yet been done  
because backward incompatible changes are still allowed until 1.0 is  
released. Also django is for people with deadlines - those who 'just  
dont have the time to learn' - lots of them around putting sites into  
production without completing the tutorial. Take the time out - not  
long, a few hours a day for a week will cut it *if* and *only* if you  
are working against deadlines.
